My Mt Buller

Welcome to Mt Buller. Ski and party central in winter, peaceful serenity in summer. I grew up and here and have returned home for the weekend to see some old mates and check out the mountain bike festival that is on this long weekend.  Although a much more quieter place in summer, Mt Buller is still home to some of the best mountain bike tracks around. ‘Stonefly’ is a 10km track  or for some more downhill fun choose ‘Copperhead’.  Copperhead incorporates a flow country style but with a downhill edge suitable for both downhill and cross-country bikes and all types of riders. It amazes me that so many of our loyal visitors in winter haven’t returned to have a gander in summer. The landscape changes so much but is equally just as beautiful as winter.  I drove to the base of the summit yesterday and took the short walk up to the top. as enjoyable as it is, I recommend doing this at sunset with a beer or (if you’re a morning person) heading there for the sunrise.

Once you reach the summit, you will not be disappointed.

Stairway to the summit or to heaven?!

Mind you, no photo can compare to the feeling of standing on top of a mountain surrounded by unique Australian wilderness. Don’t forget to say G’day to the local fire watchmen in the tower!

As beautiful this place is in summer, would I have been able to ski this place since I was 2 if it wasn’t freaking awesome?! Check this out Winter 2012 —
